EastEnders spin-off Redwater finally debuted on Sunday night on RTÉ One.

The six-part series, which was filmed in Dunmore East, Co Waterford and Co Wicklow over five months last year tells the story of what happens when Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie Moon (Shane Ritchie) travel to Ireland in search of Kat’s long-lost son.

Filming for Redwater was one of his favourite acting gigs so far, he said.

“The writing is excellent, the directing is excellent…we were like kids in a candy shop really”
